Ubi caritas
by Maurice Duruflé and Ivo Antognini; adapted by Lee Hoffman
Translation of Latin antiphon (using only verses 1 & 2 ) adapted by Lee Hoffman
Ubi caritas et amor, vitas ibi est.
Congregavit nos in terra mater amor.
Exultemus, et in ea iucundemur.
Timeamus, et amemus terrae vivum.
Et ex corde diligamus nos sincero.
Ubi caritas et amor, vitas ibi est.
Simul ergo cum in unum congregamur:
Ne nos mente dividamur, caveamus.
Cessent violentiam, cessent odium.
Et in medio nostri sit totum corde.
Where there is charity and love, life is there.
We are gathered in the love of mother earth.
Let us rejoice and be glad in her.
Let us fear and love the living earth
and from the heart love sincerely.
Where there is charity and love, life is there.
As we are gathered into one body,
Take care, because we are divided in mind
Stop the violence, stop the hate
And in the midst of us is a whole heart.
